Salt Lamp, from the Himalayas

A salt lamp is a lamp carved from a larger salt crystal, which can be lit up either from an electric light bulb or a t-light candle fitted/placed inside. When lit the lamp gives an mellow light, which is suitable to be used as a nightlight or for ambient lighting.

The salt sometimes occurs in a reddish or pink colour, with some crystals having an off-white to transparent colour.

   

It’s also considered by some that salt lamps create anions (negatively charged ions) in the air and using a salt lamp will help reduce pollution and counteract the use of electrical equipment, which may create potentially harmful positively charged ions (cations).
